Ira Kaufman is a Physical Therapist who came into this career after a life as a dancer/choreographer, musician and visual artist. Over the past 10 years of working within the specialty of Pelvic Rehabilitation, Ira continues to be fascinated by the nuances of how to best work with language, imagery, and touch to improve a client’s movement potential. “A huge component of human movement potential starts in the mind, with thoughts…images of how your own body feels, appears and feels like to move. We start there”. Ira’s experience in the field of Pelvic Rehabilitation includes starting the Women’s Health Physical Therapy Program at the Salt Lake City Veteran’s Health Administration, sitting on the National Veteran’s Pelvic Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, and starting and working within several other Pelvic Rehabilitation clinics around Southern California since 2011. Ira initiated bringing the first continuing education classes for pelvic rehabilitation providers in the Intermountain West region starting in 2015. In addition to their Pelvic Rehab training, Ira is also a Certified Lymphedema Manual Therapist, a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist, and has over a decade of myofascial release experience with certifications in Active Release Technique. They are a BASI Certified Pilates instructor since 2003 and have taught group and private sessions, specializing in customizing the method for pelvic floor rehabilitation. Ira welcomes clients of all gender identities, and orientations. They have experience treating men, women, cis-gender and transgender clients and is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
